Our First Knitting Get Together

Well it happened, and what fun we had. We got to knit and complain and solve the worlds problems. My friends Alice, Sheryl, Stephanie and Heather came over and I taught Sheryl and Alice how to knit. They were beginners having little to no knitting experience. But they left with half of their wash cloth done and had begun to work on the decreases. Its a really easy pattern:

Cast on 4 sts.
K 1r
k2 yo knit to end of row

continue until you have 45 stitches on your needle

Begin decrease:

K2, yo, k2 tog., knit to end of row

continue until you have 4 stitches on needle.

Bind off.

Well that's it, simple huh?

We decided that we would meet once a month and keep each other motivated and get some real knitting done. Unfortunatley I have not picked up needles since out fun date and I think I need to find something to motoviate me. I thought the felted slippers would do it but the same 2 rows sit on needles untouched. Sigh.... maybe this weekend, nope... the State Fair is in town and I want to go and eat fair food and take pictures! Maybe next week...

Felted Clogs

I Can't believe that I am giving this a try. I am one of those people that learn how to do ONE thing and sticks with it. Different colors --- different weights of yarn all work for me but something that requires a new technique scares me senseless. But I am willing to give this a try. I think the worst that can happen is that they will be either too big, give them to my son... or too small ... give them to Jess.

I have read the pattern, marked off the size that I will be knitting and bought the yarn and needles. I have casted on and knit 2 rounds. Phew... this (at least the knitting part) might not be so bad.

I also am working on Camouflage socks for Jess and I. they are really knitting up quickly, she wanted anklets and I like my socks a bit longer 8 inches from the top of the ribbing to the bottom of the heel. I have one of my socks done and I am working on the gusset on her sock.

I think I am going to have to give the magic loop technique a try. When I make socks I always end up making 2 pair because Jess sees them and HAS to have a pair :)...

Some sad news, My LYS is going out of business. I am heart broken... its a great store with wonderful people always willing to help you when you are stuck on a pattern or for suggestions on yarn choices. I don't know what I am going to to now, (except stock up as much as I can)... I guess I will have to venture further afield and find another shop. Sigh.....

Good new... I will be having a Stitch and Bitch at my house this weekend. Some friends want to learn to knit and I said that I would teach them. We will be sipping, knitting, and btiching... I think it will be a lot of fun. I will post pictures of event... I am sure they will want to remember the event!
